13 November 2018 Statement on the Planned Attack on Bitcoin Cash

On the 15th of November, 2018, the Bitcoin Cash network is likely to experience significant disruption. A hostile actor, claiming to have the true vision of Satoshi, has announced that he plans to attack the network starting on that date.

To protect the cryptocurrency held in trust here, we plan to take the following actions:

Due to the nature of the attack, it is not expected that there will be two separate chains at the end of the attack. Rather, only one chain is expected to exist, with the other rejected by the network. Thus we do not expect to be able to redeem or refund tips onto two distinct chains, as there is expected to be only one chain. In the unlikely event that the attack does result in two distinct chains, we will make a further announcement about how to claim funds on the alternate chain.
